Today at PDA Week 2024

Good Morning and Welcome to PDA Week 2024 Day Three of the Annual Meeting.

Tuesday was another great day at PDA Week with a series of high-level, fact-based presentations, open forums for sharing ideas and concerns, and a look toward the future with actionable outcomes.

Yesterday's Highlights

Here’s what we heard:

  • The plenary session on AI was a deep dive into the realities and misconceptions of complex learning systems. From a systematic roadmap to implement AI to a practitioner’s perspective on the nuts and bolts of AI applications, the two dynamic presenters were matched by the thoughtful, searching Q/A session with attendees. Key takeaway? Calm down! AI is a tool with unlimited power and although it has the potential for abuse by unscrupulous actors, it is also an inventive technology to advance the human condition and save lives.
  • The morning concurrent sessions continued the conversation about innovation and the challenges facing the industry. Technical, strategic, and scientific presentations got into the mechanics of keeping the industry informed and on the cutting-edge. From data integrity to ML learning styles, the speakers gave mini master classes on a range of niche expertise moving the industry into the future.
  • Special interest groups got down to business with conversations on procedures and practices that professionals need to master to guarantee patient safety. Practitioners who are industry experts, passionate about their work, and embedded in the industry shared their knowledge including everything from the wide range of options for visual inspection to the latest in 503b compounding.
  • The lightning presentations were just that; high-energy information shares with great visuals that got to the heart of innovations, processes, and solutions.
  • Expo solution suppliers were busy fielding questions, demonstrating products, and sharing market intelligence with attendees. It was also the food court of the meeting with plenty of inviting conversational space.

Today's Highlights

Wednesday bodes well for amplifying the scientific content and professional leadership that makes PDA so relevant. A trendline presentation kicks off the day with an exploration of the potential impact if the 1984 Chevron v. NRDC decision were to change.

The morning also features a special two-hour mini course on PDA’s recently published, comprehensive Points to Consider for Aseptic Processing. The concurrent sessions dig into gene therapies, data integrity, robotics, and PDA’s latest activities.

Don’t miss the poster walks, meet-ups with innovative solution providers, and the dynamic special interest groups idea exchanges. If you want to be a winner, be sure to visit all the Exhibit Hall Passport Participants and complete your Passport. Remember you must be present to win!

After lunch a topical thought leadership plenary session closes the conference. It’s always useful to bridge theory to practice with the insights and learnings from other industries. The Underswell’s Founder and Lead Instructor, Derek Sabori, shares stories of collaboration from the apparel industry on achieving confidence and competence on sustainability. This is a great example of transformational learning with inspirational examples of sustainability through collaborative case studies. Kevin McLean and Dr. Sharon Michalak add why sustainability isn’t a trend, it’s a critical strategy for survival.

For those departing late today or tomorrow, thank you for attending this portion of PDA Week! For those remaining for Thursday's tour or for those continuing on to close the week with the CDMO Workshop, your journey continues and we wish you many more immersive learning opportunities over the days ahead.
