Today at PDA Week 2024

Good Morning and Welcome to PDA Week 2024 Day Two of the Annual Meeting.

Yesterday was a great start to our annual gathering. By all accounts, everyone was enthusiastic and engaged in the content, connections, and challenges facing the industry.

We hope you got to interact with expert speakers, reconnect with your peers and explore and immerse in topics of interest.

We have a special webpage available to on-site attendees that includes dozens of photos from the PDA Award Ceremony, a Video interview with Rick Horgan, Monday's plenary speaker diving further into his journey, and so much more. Take a few moments to visit and return across the week as more and more content is added.

Monday Highlights

Here’s what happened and highlights of what we heard from fellow PDA Week attendees.

  • The career development roundtable was a collegial conversation among students, early and mid-career professionals who traded insights, challenges, and anecdotal experiences about forging a career path.
  • The other three morning roundtable discussions on training and innovation were high level investigations into the challenges facing the industry with a shared conversational thread about best practices, industry standards, and the need for standardized training with agreed-upon outcomes.
  • PDA CEO Glenn Wright and Anil Sawant, PDA Board Chair, opened the plenary session with a positive update on PDA’s accomplishments across 2023. Then two presentations focused on keeping patient care as the north star for the profession dramatized by the images of babies and young children stricken with rare diseases. Rich Horgan, CEO of Cure Rare Disease, and Pat Gavit, Head of Manufacturing Sciences at Takeda, held the audience spellbound with their compelling stories about navigating through the manufacturing and regulatory systems as innovators to save young lives.
  • The afternoon concurrent sessions did deep dives into subject matter expertise on the brass tacks of keeping the industry relevant, targeted, and anticipating the future.
  • The gatherings in the Exhibit Hall and Opening Reception hit high notes all around with good times for everyone!
